Color space-dyeing is a form of yarn dyeing which is again coming into use. It is an ancient craft to which different local names, such as tie-dyeing, have been applied. It refers to the coloring of yarns at intervals spaced along the yarn length.... this form of dyeing arose spontaneously and became a part of the textile craft tradition. In many places, tie-dyeing methods were the only ones used to create pattern in a fabric. The Japanese, for instance until fairly recently used tie-dyed yarns for the warp and weft of fabrics to produce a diversity of interesting and popular designs.... Developments in technique.... mechanized methods have replaced the ancient laborious ones of applying color space-dyeing. 1, record 21, English, - color%20space%2Ddyeing

3, record 21, French, - chinage%20par%20teinture

Yarn slippage may occur during garment manufacture, or in garment components during wear, as a result of excessive stress or abrasion. There are two major types of seam slippage: 1) When stress is applied to a seam, the yarns in the fabric slip out of the stitching causing an open seam; and 2) When stress is applied to a seam, the yarns in the fabric shift of slide in the weave construction causing seam grinning and fabric distortion. A unidirectional(UD) fabric is one in which the majority of fibres run in one direction only... the unidirectional designation only applies to those fabrics with more than 90% of the fibre weight in one direction. Unidirectionals usually have their primary fibres in the 0° direction(along the roll-a warp UD) but can also have them at 90° to the roll length(a weft UD)... True unidirectional fabrics offer the ability to place fibre in the component exactly where it is required... 1, record 56, Spanish, - trama

Geotextiles very often have two principal directions, which are at right angles to each other. With woven fabrics these are known as the warp and the weft, with non-woven fabrics the machine direction and the cross direction... Mostly the fabric shows symmetry with respect to these two principal directions, at least for a good approximation. This means that the properties of a fabric in a direction which makes an angle [theta] with one of the principal directions are equal to those in a direction at an angle of-[theta] to the same principal direction. The basic weaving pattern, in which each thread of the warp is interlaced with filling thread, or woof, is called the plain, or taffeta, weave. The word taffeta probably originated from the Persian taftah, meaning "twist." Familiar names for fabrics in the plain weave are batiste, broadcloth, calico, cambric, crepe, challis, cheesecloth, chintz, muslin, organdy, percale, seersucker, voile, and tweed. 4, record 96, English, - taffeta%20weave

The plain weave, also called ground weave or taffeta weave, is probably the oldest and most basic kind of threads interlacing. Both woven fabric sides show the same pattern. The repetition of a thread interlace is called pattern repeat; with plain woven fabrics it comprises two warp and two weft threats each. 3, record 96, English, - taffeta%20weave
