WET ENVIRONMENT [13 records]

Record 1 2024-09-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Measurements and Analyses
  • Meteorology
  • Plant and Crop Production
OBS

The water spent for the evapotranspiration is not supplied limitless, and evapotranspiration is controlled by available water. The dry condition as a result of suppressed evapotranspiration increases the potential evapotranspiration, and it influences the water usage, environment in the region. Bouchet(1963) found the complementary relationship between actual and potential evapotranspiration, and Morton(1983) formulated the relationship as follows : Eac=2xEw-|Ep where Eac and Ep are the actual and potential evapotranspiration, and Ew is the wet environmental evapotranspiration.

OBS

In another approach to macroscale formulation, Bouchet (1963) considered regional evaporation under conditions of a fixed energy budget and suggested that the actual evaporation and the apparent potential evaporation based on actual atmospheric conditions would be complementary to one another. Morton (1965, 1975) and Brutsaert and Stricker (1979) have applied this concept to the estimation of regional evapotranspiration.

CONT

Oral pathogens are opportunistic in nature and under normal conditions do not cause health problems. Dental plaque is an excellent example of microbial biofilm formation – colonies of bacteria that grow on a surface in a non-sterile, wet environment.

DEF

The dry steam, wet steam or hot water, together with dissolved and entrained substances, conveyed or flowing out of the earth’s crust.

CONT

Hitherto, apart from various passing references to non-condensible gases, geothermal fluids have been treated in this book simply as H20-hot water and/or steam. However, these fluids are invariably accompanied by gases and, in the case of wet fluids, by water-soluble substances, some of which can be potentially dangerous to the construction components of a geothermal installation and to the environment.

DEF

Exhibition of the Canadian Museum of Civilization. "Throughout large parts of Europe, wet landscape features such as rivers, brooks, wells and especially bogs had a particular meaning for people in the past. Since ancient times, people were attracted yet frightened by the misty environment of the bogs. They sacrificed their most valuable items in sacred bogs, rituals that are still mysterious to us today. Numerous artefacts discovered over the last two centuries in various parts of North-western Europe bear witness to the special significance of the bogs for the ancestors of many Europeans and North Americans. Pottery, flint tools, axes, jewellery, coins, and human bodies were sacrificed in the bogs to honour pagan gods. "

OBS

CONT

Wet air oxidation is the process of breaking down oxidizable inorganic and organic waste in a high-temperature, high-pressure, aqueous environment. The process is categorized as a low-temperature thermal treatment.

CONT

In the wet air oxidation or wet combustion of sludges, air pressures are raised to 1200 to 1800 psig [pounds per square inch gage-82 to 124 bars] and the accompanying temperature becomes 540°F or more. Under these conditions there is no vaporization of the sludge liquid. ... External heat is applied to start oxidation of the organic matter in the sludge. Thereafter, oxidation increases until the rate reaches an equilibrium value.
