Oats are finely ground to produce raw oat flour in the same way as wheat grains are processed into flour. First, the kernels are cleaned by a precleaner with an oscillating screen. The hull is then crushed, leaving most of the bran and germ. The resulting grain is ground into fine oat flour by a roller mill, burr mill, or hammer mill. 2, record 1, English, - oat%20flour

The rusty grain beetle is distributed widely throughout the world, being a common pest in granaries and elevators. Both the larvae and adults feed on the germ, and also on damaged kernels and wheat dust. Heavy infestations contribute directly and indirectly(by spreading fungal spores through the grain mass) to heating problems. 4, record 2, English, - ferruginous%20flat%20bark%20beetle

The Indian-meal moth has a wing-spread of about 2 centimetres. The forewings are creamy white next to the body, and have a reddish-brown colour with a coppery lustre on the outer two-thirds. The female moth lays about 200 eggs, either singly or in groups, on food material. The larvae are dirty white in colour, often with a greenish or pinkish tint. The newly hatched larvae are almost never seen because of their small size and the fact that they burrow as far as two metres into the grain mass. They normally remain in the grain until they have completed their larval growth. When fully grown they are about 1.2 centimetres long. In summer their life cycle is about six weeks. 1, record 4, English, - indian%2Dmeal%20moth
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The Indian-meal moth is cosmopolitan in distribution, feeding on stored grain as well as nuts, dried fruits and packaged cereals. The principal damage caused to wheat is to the germ : a single larva may destroy the germ of approximately 50 kernels in completing its development. Degermed kernels reduce the grade and produce flour inferior in baking quality. 1, record 4, English, - indian%2Dmeal%20moth

2, record 4, French, - pyrale%20indienne%20de%20la%20farine
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 4, French, - pyrale%20indienne%20de%20la%20farine

Octacosanol. This natural food supplement is taken from the finest part of the wheat germ, and athletes commend its endurance virtues. It is thought to improve muscle glycogen storage, stabilize basal metabolic rate, reduce high altitude stress, improve reaction time, reduce oxygen debt by improving oxygen utilization and ultimately improves endurance. Studies have shown that Octacosanol improves endurance and therefore relieves muscle pain after exercise. It has also been clinically proven to improve oxygen utilization when exercising. 3, record 14, English, - octacosanol

2, record 14, French, - octacosanol

Running along the full length of the wheat seed is the crease, which reaches in depth almost to the middle of the grain. The seed, or berry as it is sometimes called, is made up of three main parts : the interior starchy endosperm, the seed coat or bran, and the embryo called the germ. From the tempering bins, the grain passes to an impact aspirator. This machine has a variable speed drive set to ensure a fairly severe scouring of the wheat against the body of the aspirator. It is important to operate the impact aspirator at a controlled speed : fast enough to effectively achieve its purpose but not so fast as to fragment the durum grains. The purpose of scouring is twofold : to dislodge and remove the germ from the berry; to scour off the outer skin, called beeswing, from the grain, and separate this material from the mass by aspiration, thereby reducing the microbial count of the grain. 1, record 20, English, - impact%20aspirator

1, record 20, French, - aspirateur%20%C3%A0%20percussion
