CONT

Armorcoat safety and security films help deter would-be thieves by withstanding blows that would shatter untreated glass.

OBS

Because it's thicker than standard window film, Armorcoat actually makes glass stronger and more resistant to breakage. Incredibly strong, optical-quality polyester, high-grade ultraviolet inhibitors, and special laminating and mounting adhesives is what makes Armorcoat... exceptionally tough. Once installed to the inside surface of glass, the special mounting adhesive forms a molecular bond, strengthening the overall integrity of the pane. Armorcoat provides an effective and non-obtrusive defense against intruders, accidents, explosions and weather-helping to save lives and protect your property.

CONT

GlassLock, San Jose, Calif. ... Offers a number of glass hazard mitigation retrofit products -- blast, windstorm, seismic and forced entry.

CONT

Bomb blast net curtains were invented by the British during World War II for reducing the glass hazard associated with explosion incidents. They consist of translucent Kevlar curtains that are longer and wider than the window and have weights at the bottom. The excess curtain length is placed into a box at the base of the window. When an explosion occurs, the curtains billow out, permitting the air-blast to pass through, but capturing a significant portion of the glass fragments. The British often augment this with 4 mil film coating with blast curtains to provide an effective glass hazard mitigation design for annealed glass windows.

CONT

80-85% of the injuries sustained during an explosion are caused by flying glass. GovSupply employs a two-pronged strategy designed to protect a building and its occupants against the detrimental effects of a blast load. Our blast resistant products are built to withstand the force of the blast load, while our glass hazard mitigation technologies control how glass will fail during the event.

Because the technology of hypermedia is capable of subsuming all previous media, the wide range of spatial illusions offered by paintings, photographs, perspective systems and dioramas, film, video and sound recordings can now all be represented on the monitor screen. Currently these screens are relatively small, with a typical television screen viewed from across the room occupying only a tiny fraction of our cone of vision.... From being a small window on to a variety of real world scenes, the television will become an architectural space that we will inhabit. These soft "hyper environments" will be controlled through the kind of interfaces that are currently being developed.
