Première colonie française en Amérique du Nord qui s'établie principalement en Nouvelle-Écosse dans les années 1600. Les Acadiens furent expulsés par les Anglais en 1755. Le terme «Acadie» s'emploie aujourd'hui pour désigner les Maritimes (Nouveau-Brunswick, Nouvelle-Écosse et Île-du-Prince-Édouard) où se sont installés les Acadiens.
