Les forêts de l'Afrique australe. Soixante-cinq pour cent de la superficie de l'Afrique australe sont couverts de forêts et de savanes boisées naturelles, soit 440 millions d'hectares au total. Les régions boisées de Miombo, où l'on trouve principalement la combinaison Brachystegia-Julbernardia-Isoberlina, constituent le type principal de forêts, les formations de type mopane de Cholophospermum mopane étant les plus importantes sur le plan commercial. Parmi les autres types importants de forêts figurent les formations d'acacia et les forêts afromontanes qui ont une grande valeur sur la scène locale. De plus, on trouve 2,3 millions d'hectares de plantations de pins et d'eucalyptus.
