Expression que l'on pourrait réserver aux karsts nus de type alpin, qui se développent au-dessus de la limite de la forêt, et qui affectent les massifs calcaires aux surfaces assez peu inclinées pour que la couverture neigeuse y soit épaisse et de longue durée; les eaux de fonte, très riches en CO2, sont douées d'une très grande agressivité, pouvant dissoudre, d'après les mesures de Corbel, jusqu'à 600 mg de CO3Ca par litre. Ainsi se justifieraient les rochers ruiniformes des Alpes calcaires.
