Générateur constitué d'une électrode d'aluminium et d'une électrode destinée à la réaction de l'oxygène, qui plongée dans un électrolyte, assure le circulation des électrons.

Pour réaliser pratiquement un générateur aluminium-air, il faut disposer d'une électrode d'aluminium (l'anode) et d'une électrode où réagira l'oxygène (la cathode). L'ensemble est plongé dans un électrolyte [...]. Sur l'anode se produit une réaction d'oxydation de l'aluminium avec production d'électrons qui viennent se fixer à la cathode et réduire l'oxygène. Les atomes d'aluminium et d'oxygène forment l'alumine A12O3.
