A test for ligamentous damage: with the patient lying prone and the knee flexed to 90 degrees, the examiner places his knee of the patient's posterior thigh while applying an upward distractive force on the foot. Pain from rotating the tibia internally and externally on the femur suggests ligament damage.

Sur le sujet en décubitus ventral, la jambe fléchie à 90° sur la cuisse maintenue fermement contre la table, on exerce une traction verticale vers le haut en empaumant l'extrémité inférieure de la jambe de la main gauche (distension ligamentaire), et, de la main droite, on provoque des mouvements de rotation interne et externe sur le pied : la rotation externe interroge la douleur du ligament latéral interne et inversement.
