[...] sur une phase stationnaire apolaire, les solutés apolaires donnent des pics dont les temps de rétention croissent en fonction des températures d'ébullition. Sur la même phase apolaire, des solutés polaires sortent de la colonne plus rapidement que des solutés apolaires de même point d'ébullition. Cette simple combinaison, jointe à celles que l'on peut réaliser avec les phases polaires, montre que l'on peut même envisager, en changeant de colonnes, d'inverser l'ordre de sortie de certains pics, afin d'obtenir de meilleures séparations.
