Avoir recours à un tribunal supérieur pour faire réformer le jugement d'un tribunal inférieur. «Appeler d'un jugement, le frapper d'appel.» Dans le langage du droit, la tournure [en appeler de] est pléonastique lorsqu'elle est suivie d'un complément indirect : [Il en a appelé de la décision]; dire «Il a appelé de la décision.» L'exemple suivant est correct («Il en a appelé à cour suprême.»), car le pronom «en» ici tient lieu du complément indirect sous-entendu «décision». Le pléonasme [en appeler de] devrait être évité, en dépit de l'effet stylistique que certains auteurs attribuent à l'emploi de cette locution, par exemple dans une phrase où l'expression répond au sentiment, telle la citation fréquemment relevée par les dictionnaires : «J'en appelle au roi de ce jugement inique.» La locution «en appeler à» signifie recourir à, s'en remettre à : «La défense en appelle à la clémence du tribunal.» 4, record 1, French, - interjeter%20appel%20contre
