Enzyme catalyzed reactions like other chemical reactions increased in rate with rises in temperature, this effect being described by an Arrhenius relationship ... Since both enzyme activity and stability vary with temperature, close control of the temperature in the immobilized enzyme reactor is necessary to insure operation under optimal conditions. Generally, the temperature dependence of reaction rate and enzyme activity loss rate can be described by Arrhenius equations.
