Record 1 2001-05-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Atomic Physics
DEF

A radioactive element produced artificially in contrast with radioactive elements which occur in nature.

CONT

One year after the discovery of X rays by Röntgen in 1895, Becquerel discovered natural radioactivity, and although the nature of gamma radiation from radionuclides was recognized within five years of the discovery of X rays, artificial radionuclides were first produced only about 40 years ago.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique atomique
DEF

Record 2 1982-03-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Atomic Physics
  • Chemistry
OBS

Artificial radioactive elements usually decay fairly quickly, but they are more active than natural elements; this makes inspection still more important.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique atomique
  • Chimie
OBS
