Through the contact with the reducing environment the [descending and laterally moving] fluids changed their Eh from positive to negative values. The reduced fluids then re-entered the sedimentary rocks in ascending flows along faults and fracture zones, where they mingled with the downward and laterally moving waters at the unconformity.
