Une thérapie par aspiration [...] a été [...] développée et permet aux patients d'éliminer une partie du contenu de leur estomac après un repas. Ceci s'effectue en fixant un dispositif d'aspiration à un tube de gastrostomie percutanée. Le tube de gastrostomie est inséré par voie endoscopique sous sédation consciente. Quelques jours plus tard, il est relié à un «port cutané» qui permet de fixer facilement le dispositif d'aspiration. Avec ce système, les patients peuvent éliminer environ 30 % du contenu de leur estomac en suivant une procédure qui dure 5 à 10 minutes.
