Asset purchases by the ECB [European Central Bank] are being made at a rate of 60 billion euros per month from March 2015 to at least September 2016 for a total of 1.1 trillion euros (or about 10 per cent of GDP [gross domestic product]), comparable in size to the most recent asset purchase program by the U.S. Federal Reserve that ran from September 2012 to October 2014.
