Basic catalysts are employed less than acid catalysts, but are used industrially for polymerization of conjugated dienes as well as for the isomerization of olefins, dehydrogenation of certain diolefinic materials to aromatics, alkylation of arylalkanes, and polymerization of monoolefins.
