(...) ce test se fait sur un petit échantillon de sang, la réaction allergique se produisant en dehors du patient. A l'aide d'une solution à base de bleu de toluidine, les basophiles sont électivement colorés en rouge brique et peuvent facilement être identifiés. Mais lorsque les cellules ont été préalablement exposées à un antigène auquel elles sont sensibles, elles "dégranulent", et l'exposition ultérieure au colorant est sans effet. Le test requiert au total 80 microlitres de sang.
