Celui-ci contient l'adresse sur 24 bits d'un autre tampon de données (Data Buffer Address), sa longueur (Actual Count) et, éventuellement, l'adresse du prochain descripteur de tampon (Link Field). Ainsi, plusieurs tampons peuvent être chaînés pour constituer, à l'intérieur d'une trame, un champ de données (Data Field) de grande longueur. Cette technique de chaînage assure une gestion souple et efficace des tampons de transmission.
