Rayon made by cuprammonium process.

In the cuprammonium process, the cellulose is treated with copper sulfate and ammonia to form a viscous solution of cellulose cuprammonium. It is then extruded through the spinnerets, and the resulting filaments are drawn out with a stream of water.

Découvert en Allemagne en 1919, le bemberg a longtemps été considéré, malgré sa faible résistance, comme la fibre ressemblant le plus à la soie. Aujourd hui, il est souvent remplacé par la viscose; on l'utilise néanmoins mélangé à d'autres fibres, dans la confection des bas et des doublures.
