CONT

The UI measures proposed in the Budget will enable the government to rollback the UI premium rate for 1995 to $3.00 and offset the revenue shortfall. These changes will reduce UI program expenditures by $725 million in 1994-95, and by $2.4 billion in 1995-96 and 1996-97. The rate would remain at $3.00 in 1996. Better than anticipated economic performance and the state of the UI Account could permit even further reductions.

CONT
