Bowden Institution is a medium-security facility with a minimum-security Annex halfway between the communities of Innisfail and Bowden, Alberta. It opened in 1974 and can accommodate up to 455 inmates. The main programs at the institution include: substance abuse treatment, reasoning and rehabilitation, anger and emotions management, family violence and programs for sex offenders. The same programs are also available to Aboriginal offenders.
