La lisse [...], parfois appelée apprêteuse, est constituée de plusieurs (3 à 9) rouleaux creux superposés en fonte dure trempée très polie extérieurement, montés sur paliers coulissants pour permettre les variations de pression (ou l'écartement) entre les rouleaux. Il semble exister une confusion en français relativement à l'emploi des termes «lisse» et «calandre» et leur traduction anglaise. Ainsi les auteurs du Cours de formation papetière (code CTD-1) identifient l'usage de «lisse» à celui de l'anglais «calender», ce qui apparaît juste à la lumière de la définition de «calender». Ces mêmes auteurs traduisent aussi «calandre» par «supercalender». Or les normes ISO-4046 et AFNOR Q01-005, appuyées par les auteurs du Vocabulaire du matériel papetier (code : VOPAP) rendent littéralement «calandre» par «calender» et «supercalandre» par «supercalender», tout en associant l'emploi de «lisse» à la traduction de «calender stack», «stack» et «machine stack». 5, record 1, French, - lisse
