The Canadian Police Information Centre (CIPC) is operated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on behalf of all Canadian law enforcement. It contains millions of records on criminals, missing persons, vehicles, stolen property, registered firearms and crime scene information. It is the primary tool used to identify suspects, to access outstanding warrants and restraining orders, to screen out sex offenders from jobs involving contact with children, and to flag files of dangerous offenders. It serves over 60,000 law enforcement officials in every province and territory, handling over 100 millions queries from 15,000 points of access. Le Centre d'information de la police canadienne (CIPC) est exploité par la Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC) au nom de tous les organismes d'exécution de la loi au Canada. Il contient des millions de dossiers sur des criminels, des personnes manquantes, des véhicules, des biens volés, des armes à feu enregistrées et des renseignements prélevés sur les lieux du crime. C'est le principal outil d'identification des suspects, d'accès à des mandats non exécutés et à des ordonnance de non-communication, de filtrage des délinquants sexuels afin de les écarter de postes les mettant en contact avec des enfants, et de repérage des dossiers de criminels dangereux. Le CIPC est au service de plus de 60 000 responsables de l'exécution de la loi dans toutes les provinces et territoires, et répond à plus de 100 millions de demandes de renseignements provenant de 15 000 points d'accès.
