A milk-white to reddish orthorhombic mineral which consists of a chloride of magnesium and potassium occurring as a saline residue and used as a raw material of fertilizer manufacture in some European districts.

La carnallite nécessite un traitement spécial pour enlever le MgCl2 nuisible pour l'agriculture, mais qui constitue par ailleurs un excellent minerai de magnésium [...]

On l'exploite industriellement depuis 1858, pour l'agriculture, et c'est aujourd'hui l'un des minerais de magnésium les plus intéressants.
