The Centre d'expertise hydrique du Québec (CEHQ) is an agency of the Ministère du Développement durable, de l'Environnement et des Parcs created in April 2001. The CEHQ is continuously evolving, to stay at the leading edge of knowledge in the fields of dams, water regime and public water resources. The mission of the Centre d'expertise hydrique du Québec is to manage the provincial water regime with a concern for safety, equity and sustainable development. To this end, it ensures the regulation of the water regime through the operation of public dams, land management and the integrity of the State's water resources, and also ensures the safety of dams. The CEHQ also provides support to municipalities in defining flood-risk areas and the effective control of floods. Le Centre d'expertise hydrique du Québec (CEHQ) est une agence du ministère du Développement durable, de l'Environnement et des Parcs. Créé en avril 2001, il est en constante évolution ce qui lui permet d'être à la fine pointe des connaissances et du savoir-faire dans les domaines des barrages, du régime hydrique et du domaine hydrique de l'État. La mission du Centre d'expertise hydrique du Québec est de gérer le régime hydrique du Québec avec une préoccupation de sécurité, d'équité et de développement durable. À cette fin, il assure la régularisation du régime des eaux par l'exploitation des barrages publics, la gestion foncière et l'intégrité du domaine hydrique de l'État et il veille à la sécurité des barrages. Le Centre fournit également un soutien aux municipalités dans la détermination des zones inondables et des moyens de lutte contre les inondations.
