The new techniques ... are chain pairing, plait (braid) borders and packing. ... Chain pairing. To prevent oval work from twisting, an equal number of pairing and reverse pairing rounds are put on the base. If these techniques are used on alternate rows they form a chain pattern which is extremely attractive.
