Selon M. Gilles Frisque, chercheur en sylviculture au CRFL, le «Chilson rake» est un type de cylindre doté de dents que l'on descend autour des cimes des conifères pour en extraire les semences. Les dents rappellent l'extrémité d'un râteau. Comme cet instrument n'est utilisé qu'en Colombie-Britannique, M. Frisque ne connaît aucune traduction sauf l'anglais. Il recommande une périphrase et les parenthèses.
