An innovative joint public-private initiative will provide risk capital for private investments in Africa that generate economic growth. Following an international competitive bidding process, Cordiant Capital Inc., formerly IFTP Management Inc., and Actis were selected to co-manage CIFA. Cordiant Capital Inc., based in Montreal, manages funds invested in loans issued by international financial institutions, regional development banks, and Export Development Canada. Actis is a UK-based private equity investor in emerging markets. CIDA and International Trade Canada negotiated the terms and conditions of the Fund, which will be operated at arm s length by Actis/Cordiant. CIFA was formally launched in Toronto on Monday, April 25, 2005 by the Honourable Aileen Carroll, Minister for International Cooperation, and the Honourable Jim Peterson, Minister for International Trade, at the Canadian Council on Africa conference on Unleashing Finance and Infrastructure for Africa. 1, record 1, English, - Canada%20Investment%20Fund%20for%20Africa

Une initiative conjointe des secteurs public et privé fournira un capital de risque pour des investissements privés, en Afrique, qui génèrent une croissance économique. À la suite d'un processus d'appel d'offres international, les sociétés Cordiant Capital Inc. (anciennement IFTP Management Inc.) et Actis (en anglais seulement) ont été sélectionnées pour administrer conjointement le FICA. Cordiant Capital Inc., dont le siège social est situé à Montréal, gère les fonds investis dans des prêts consentis par des institutions financières internationales, par des banques régionales de développement ainsi que par Exportation et Développement Canada. Actis est une société d'investissement privée britannique en activité sur les marchés émergents. L'ACDI et Commerce international Canada se sont chargés de la négociation des modalités du FICA, qui sera administré de façon indépendante par Actis et Cordiant. Le FICA a été lancé officiellement à Toronto le lundi 25 avril 2005, par la ministre de la Coopération internationale, Mme Aileen Carroll, et par le ministre du Commerce international, M.
