Termes propres aux droits civils français et québécois. Dans les actes notariés, on rencontre parfois l'expression désuète « circonstances et dépendances » qui ne figure pas dans le Code civil du Québec. Il est correct d'employer « dependencies » ou « appurtenances » pour traduire à la fois « dépendances » et « circonstances et dépendances ». L'expression «appurtenances and dependencies» proposée par Langstaff pour traduire « circonstances et dépendances » est redondante tandis que l'expression « circumstances and dependencies » est un calque du français.
