The Clément-Cormier Chair in Economic Development was established in 1988 in memory of Reverend Clément Cormier, the founder of the Université de Moncton and its first recteur. Clément Cormier also played a key role in the renaissance of the Acadian society. The focus of the Chair will continue to be on economic development policies in the three Maritime provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island).

La Chaire Clément-Cormier en développement économique a été créée en 1988 à la mémoire du révérend père Clément Cormier, fondateur et premier recteur de l'Université de Moncton.
