Since CO2 has already increased by 25 percent to its preindustrial level, it might be possible to project observed climatic changes into the future. However, we learn that these changes are difficult to detect because of the signal-to-noise concept. In fact, climatic variations over all time scales have been observed. For instance, most temperature time-series show significant variability on a time scale of some decades. The reason for these variations is poorly understood. Therefore, they must be classified as noise and are confounding when the influence of CO2 is to be determined. 1, record 1, English, - signal%2Dto%2Dnoise%20concept

2, record 1, French, - th%C3%A9orie%20de%20la%20d%C3%A9tection%20du%20signal
