Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. A cookie is a small text file placed on a visitor's computer by a Web site in order to remember information. While the technology behind cookies is fairly simple, the implications behind their use are increasingly complicated and far-reaching. Firstly, the technology is not well understood resulting in widespread confusion about why and how they are used. Secondly, since cookies have the ability to store or index personal information, their use can carry legal implications in terms of privacy far more serious than most people realize. Thirdly, cookies can pose a security risk if not used correctly. 1, record 1, English, - Cookie%20Guidelines

1, record 1, French, - Lignes%20directrices%20concernant%20les%20t%C3%A9moins
