Il y a le Credo tel qu'il s'écoute, celui que Dieu nous fait entendre en Jésus-Christ. Et il y a le Credo tel que nous le professons : la reprise des mots de Dieu dans la bouche d'un homme. C'est l'affirmation de la foi personnelle et l'énoncé de cette foi, soit dans le symbole des Apôtres, soit dans le symbole de Nicée-Constantinople. Un d'entre eux est professé dans la Messe.
