OBS

The Defence Council (DC), chaired by the Minister, is the senior committee within the DND and is designed to provide the Minister with a forum for discussion of items of current interest. Membership is limited to departmental senior officials, although provision is made for additional officers to be present when it is necessary to provide a broader spectrum of knowledge and experience. The DC's role is to provide the Minister with an opportunity to exchange ideas, and to obtain information.
