ECSOOT stands for Eastern Canadian Shield Onshore-Offshore Transect and is a project of the national LITHOPROBRE program directed at understanding the lithospheric structure of the northeastern Canadian Shield in the area of Labrador and northeast Quebec. The principal objective is the structure of the Proterozoic orogens of this region represented by the Southeastern Churchill, Makkovik and Grenville provinces, and the parts of the Archean Nain craton against which the orogens abut.
