L’échocardiographie Doppler est un test indolore réalisé au cours d’une échocardiographie transthoracique (examen du cœur à l’aide d’ultrasons). Elle vise à évaluer la fréquence cardiaque et la capacité de pompage du cœur ainsi qu’à analyser la direction et la vitesse du débit sanguin cardiaque. L’utilisation d’ultrasons ne présente aucun danger. L’examen permet au médecin d’évaluer le volume du cœur, sa capacité à se contracter ainsi que le fonctionnement des valvules.
