Change of electrode potential with respect to a reference value. 1, record 1, English, - electrode%20polarization
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Note - Often the free corrosion potential is used as the reference value. The change may be caused, for example, by the application of an external electrical current or by the addition of an oxidant or reductant. 1, record 1, English, - electrode%20polarization

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 1, French, - polarisation%20d%27%C3%A9lectrode

[It] exists when metallic material is present in the rock and the current flow is partly electronic, partly electrolytic. A chemical reaction occurs at the interface between the mineral and solution. (...) Minerals which are electronic conductors exhibit electrode polarization. These include almost all the sulphides (except sphalerite and possibly cinnabar and stibnite), some oxides such as magnetite, ilmenite, pyrolusite and cassiterite and (...) graphite. The magnitude of this electrode polarization depends, of course, on the external current source and also on a number of characteristics of the medium. It varies with the mineral concentration, (...) 1, record 2, English, - electrode%20polarization

1, record 2, French, - polarisation%20%C3%A9lectronique
