Le verbe «enchâsser» et ses dérivés nominal «enchâssement» et participial «enchâssé», employés au figuré au sens d'inscrire des droits, des libertés et des garanties dans un texte sont des calques des métaphores anglaises de «to enshrine» et «to entrench». Le premier fait image religieuse (conserver religieusement) d'où, au figuré, faire partie intégrante de quelque chose, le deuxième, image militaire (fermement cantonné), d'où, au figuré, être solidement implanté, être bien ancré. Malgré le fait que l'emploi de ces termes est répandu dans la phraséologie du droit constitutionnel au Canada, son emploi est largement critiqué par les linguistes.
