ENZYME-CATALYZED REACTION [2 records]

Record 1 1994-01-11

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
CONT

The hundreds of enzyme-catalyzed chemical reactions in cells are organized into many different sequences of consecutive reactions. Such sequences may have anywhere from 2 to 20 or more reaction steps. Some of these sequences of enzyme-catalyzed reactions degrade organic nutrients into simple end products.

Key term(s)
  • enzyme-catalysed reaction
  • enzyme-catalyzed chemical reaction

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
CONT

Record 2 1992-08-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
CONT

Enzymes can catalyze in seconds complex sequences of reactions that would require days, weeks, or months of work in the chemical laboratory. Moreover, enzyme-catalyzed reactions proceed with 100 percent yields; there are no by-products.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
CONT
