Fiber free diets are useful for people with chronic diarrhea who need either less fiber in their diet or need their body to digest the food they are consuming less. Don't stay on a fiber free diet for too long; fiber is an integral nutrient to live a healthy life.

La rectocolite hémorragique. En cas de poussée, le régime sans fibre est généralement conseillé car il améliore le confort en diminuant les diarrhées et les douleurs abdominales. Si ce régime sans fibre est instauré celui-ci doit être riche en protéines et il faut également compenser les pertes en eau et en sels minéraux (particulièrement le fer et le calcium).

Les termes «régime» et «diète» sont souvent en concurrence, toutefois le terme «régime» tend à supplanter le terme «diète» dans l'usage.
