Fonctionnement en tension pulsée à fréquence fixe. L'application d'une tension pulsée permet d'éviter les phénomènes parasites observés en mode tension constante. On applique la tension pendant un temps très court [....] Les électrons sont collectés pendant le court instant où est appliquée la tension. Les autres ions négatifs, plus lourds, se déplacent moins vite et de ce fait ne sont pas collectés. Ce mode de fonctionnement empêche également la formation de zones chargées dans le détecteur.
