The practice of designing buildings with a sensitivity to how the construction affects the environment. That means building buildings without endangered materials like tropical wood or from materials that don't pollute, such as recycled goods. It also means constructing them in a way that minimizes their impact on land and water. For inspiration, consult the Chinese principles of feng shui ("wind and water").(US News and World Report, January 1st 1991, p. 84).
