A piece of non-skid material having the form of a sole and attached to one of the curling shoes, often with an elastic, to help the curler during the initial swing and serve as a stabilizer during the delivery of a rock, or while sweeping or brushing the ice.

OBS

The foot with the gripper is said the "grip foot," "pushing foot" or "rear foot" and could be the right or the left foot of a curler. Usually, the material is of a removeable or slip-on type, but can be permanently attached to the sole. Under the sliding or lead foot, is fixed or attached a crepe sole or teflon slider.
