On the second of February ..., according to folklore, the woodchuck awakes from its long winter sleep and comes out of its den. If it sees its shadow it will go back in, and we will have another six weeks of winter. If it does not see its shadow it will remain awake and active, and we will have an early spring.

La tradition est d'observer les marmottes pour prévoir si la fin de l'hiver est proche : s'il fait soleil et que la marmotte peut voir son ombre, l'hiver durera six semaines de plus; si le temps est nuageux et qu'elle ne voit pas son ombre, l'hiver finira bientôt.
