Handstanding is also possible. The rider grasps each end of the board with his hands and pushes off gently. Slowly he adopts the handstand position. This is one of the most dangerous freestyle tricks and it is vital that helmet and pads should be worn. When the handstand is mastered the rider can carry out intricate manoeuvres while in that position; even a 360 degree spin (which has a degree of difficulty of 9 on a scale of 10).

Lift arms overhead while simultaneously lifting left leg. Step forward onto left foot ... and bend left knee. Place hands on mat in front of shoulders. Swing right leg ... backward and upward. Immediately follow with a strong push from foot of left leg. Eyes spot mat about ten inches in front of hands. As soon as body is almost inverted, switch legs and come to a stand on the right foot.

Au passage à l'appui tendu renversé, les jambes, le tronc et les bras sont alignés, le bassin est fixé en rétroversion. La tête doit être le plus possible dans l'alignement de la colonne vertébrale : droite, elle permet un meilleur alignement bras/tronc, légèrement relevée, elle permet une information visuelle plus précise pour la stabilisation.
