Hydrometric data are collected and compiled by Water Survey of Canada's eight regional offices. The information is housed in two centrally-managed databases: HYDEX and HYDAT. HYDEX is the relational database that contains inventory information on the various streamflow, water level, and sediment stations (both active and discontinued) in Canada. This database contains information about the stations themselves such as; location, equipment, and type(s) of data collected.

Les données hydrométriques sont recueillies et compilées par les huit bureaux régionaux des Relevés hydrologiques du Canada. Les renseignements sont archivés dans deux bases de données centrales : HYDEX et HYDAT. HYDEX est une base de données relationnelle qui contient les données recueillies dans les diverses stations (en service ou fermées) du Canada sur le débit, le niveau d'eau et la concentration de sédiments. Elle renferme de l'information sur les stations elles-mêmes, leur emplacement, le matériel utilisé et le type de données qu'on y recueille.
