L'hyperthermie doit être distinguée de la fièvre. Si ces deux phénomènes sont caractérisés par une élévation de la température de l'organisme, ils n'ont pas la même origine. L'hyperthermie est due à une accumulation de chaleur et constitue un phénomène anormal.
