Avec la pile IBC on retrouve à peu près tous les avantages de ces jonctions verticales : taux d'ombre nul, résistance série de faible valeur, peu d'effet lors d'une illumination non uniforme. Par contre la face éclairée doit rester une zone à faible recombinaison.
