"In response to this need, an Industrial Training Program in Responsible Fishing was developed as a cooperative project of the New Brunswick Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the local fishing industry and DFO (Fisheries and Oceans Canada). The objective of this training program was stated as: The creation of an understanding of the issues facing the industry and through knowledge of and practice in responsible fishing to ensure that participants obtain optimum competency in those subject areas required for the long-term viability of the fishery".

«Pour répondre à ce besoin, on a préparé un Programme de formation industrielle de la pêche responsable dans le cadre d'un projet conjoint avec le ministère des Pêches et de l'Aquaculture du Nouveau-Brunswick, l'industrie de la pêche locale et le MPO (Pêches et Oceans Canada). L'objectif de ce programme de formation est le suivant : « Susciter une compréhension des problèmes qui se posent à l'industrie et, grâce à l'acquisition de connaissances et à la pratique de la pêche responsable, s'assurer que les participants acquièrent le plus de compétences possible dans les domaines requis pour la viabilité à long terme de la pêche. »
